I am so sick of seeing doctors every week only to be told that they don't know what is wrong with me. I am 29 years old. When I was 25, I slipped my first disc in my lumbar region and had surgery. From there on out, my back showed signs of ddd and djd, I now have spinal stenosis in the Lumbar region of my spine, I have bulging discs in my cervical spine which are compressing nerves. My discs are black on the MRI which my doctor says means there is not enough fluid to cushion them. There is arthritis in my spine up and down. All my joints hurt. It started with my knees. I had knee surgery which made the pain worse. Then my elbows started hurting. Now my sholders hurt and hips crack. I have been getting numbness all over my body including my fingers, arms, legs, etc... I have been getting headaches 2 to 3 times a week. I have depression. I think I have a sleeping disorder because I fall asleep during the day almost every day. I almost fall asleep driving short distances sometimes. Any time where I am sitting still for more than 20 minutes, I start to doze off. I am on adderal for it and still fall asleep. Always tired, fatigued and sleepy. I gained 15 pounds this past year because I stopped having the energy to workout. I have GI issues up the yin yang. GERD, Gastritis, gastroparesis, eosinophilic esophagitis, duodenitis, irritable bowel syndrome, stomach pain, had my gallbladder removed and I still can't get rid of the gastritis. I have a stricture in my esophagus now which causes me to have problems swallowing food, especially bread and rice. My memory has significantly been effected, as I can't remember what I did yesterday and keep placing things around the house and don't realize I put them there. My labs so far were all normal. Blood sugar, blood count, thyroid, and in fact, my cholesterol improved when I gained weight!!! Which means I am now officially 50 pounds overweight. (190lbs on a 5'6 frame). My muscles sometimes twitch especially in my calves and thighs when I am laying still. I can't concentrate and if I try reading a book for school, I start dozing and loose focus. I am always in pain. If it's not my back, it's my joints or my head. I had all these symptoms slowly start when I was in my early 20's. Probably the first symptoms were the GI issues at 22 years old.
My G.I. doctor said my esophagitis and gastritis are so bad he's afraid I will get cancer! My pain clinic doctor is worried that my back is degenerating so fast for my age. And growing up, I was told I would have a hard time having children because I had cysts all over my ovaries and they were two different sizes. My recent check showed that my ovaries are normal, no cysts, normal sized, and the only problem I have is a fibroid mass that is 1 inch by 1 inch wide. I had a pulmonary embolism 2 years ago and 2 clots in my right thigh (dvt). I have noticed that it gets harder for me to breathe when it is hot outside and I need an inhaler.
My father has diabetes, hypertension and psoriasis, mother has thyroid condition and allergies. I have no idea why I have all these problems with me! My doctors are all scratching their heads! My GI doctor said he has never seen someone my age with gastroparesis who isn't diabetic.
My sister told me it sounds like I have fibromyalgia, but I don't know enough about it to say yes or no. Is there anyone out there with similar symptoms to mine who would know what labs or tests I would need done to confirm a diagnosis? Does what I have sound like Fibromyalgia? The hardest part os being in constant pain and being to tired and sleepy all the time. I used to be super active, lost 40 pounds, then when my divorce started a few years back, it seems like everything got worse and new symptoms showed up. I gained 15 pounds back of the 40 and my back pain is unbearable some days. I am on pain killers. Have been for 4 years now. I take the same dose I have the entire time. 3 pills a day as needed. Some days I take 4, some days I may take only 1. I use an inhaler, get allergy shots 2 times a week and have dexilant for gerd, mirena for bc, and an inhaler that is swallowed for the eosinophilic esophagitis. I need answers. If anyone has any suggestions...it may help or give me ideas of what else it could be.... I'm so frustrated!

I think the spine and nerve issues are paramount. Try PT over chiro, massage, and ask a doctor about pain solutions. I use gabapentin because it is cheaper than lyrica. But I start with heat, massage, then PT. If the pain continues then I use the meds for awhile.

Sometimes I take the week of steroid like anti inflammatories. I don't like it because of its impact on other body issues.

There are various pain treatments pain doctors can give. Sometimes it works but I also thing paindoctors like each new experimental toy they get.

Finally, I took up writing in a closed group of older women like myself. It amazes me how self-expression relieves tension and pain.
