I am 32 years old 5'7 and weigh 255 pounds. I have always went up and down in my weight since I was a child. I get to a comfortable weight then I feel that I can eat what ever I want. I played sports growing up which helped to keep the weight off. I love to eat, I am hispanic and love our fried foods. It hard for me to say no to food especially if its right in front of me. I feel gross I have recently started watching what I eat and eating smaller portions but it is hard when everyone at home is eating what ever they want and also at work. When I was a teenager I use to make myself throw up, I look at pictures now and wish I could be that thin again, what was I thinking. I have not done that since then. I just can't figure out why I love to eat so much that I eat till I am super full or will eat even when I am not hungry. I just dont know maybe its an eating disorder

Sounds like you may have an overeating disorder but it also sounds like you just really love food.

I am in recovery from anorexia and no matter what number I hit, I was never happy. I always wanted to be smaller and smaller. There was never a time when I thought to myself "ok this is a good weight for me" and then start eating again. It was more like "okay well i could still lose five more pounds..." im 5'4" and got down to 93 lbs with restricting and occasional purging.

Do you eat when you are upset or just because? Before the anorexia I used to eat a lot when I was bored just because I loved food so much and had nothing better else to do but if you are eating because you are depressed than I think maybe talking to a dr would be advisable. Sometimes people just really love food though and thats not a disorder, its normal, but its always important to make sure you are eating healthy so as to avoid any serious health problems later on.

Have you ever tried dieting? Maybe something that can get your meals more regimented might help. Weight watchers helped my mom and she LOOOVES to eat. And she still does! She just does it in a healthier way now because she has more info on how to still eat but eat healthy.

    Good luck!

    Kaity,

Thank you for the informations. I can't say that I eat because I am depressed, I just love to eat. I have dieted many times but it is so hard to not go back to my bad eatting habits. I am going to start exercising and eatting healthier and try to make it a life change. Thank you very much I feel better about my eatting and not looking as it as an eatting disorder.

Hey there hun, I can kinda sympathise with you on 1 level from the age of about 16 to I'd say 28, i went from a size 8 to a size 22 uk size, started from taking contraceptive pill to eating oversized portions when i left home, add 5 babies to the mix my body was out of control, I used to starve for a few days, even made myself sick a few times, which I could not do id end up starving then getting so hungry eat everyting any anything in sight, then feel so guilty about it try and vomit but I have a phobia of being sick so that never worked, i tried diet pills, diet plans, and convinced myself that I was so unattractive, now I'm a tad older 34 and life and events that have happened over the years have made me see whats really important in life, I found my weight started to naturally come off and balance out when i stopped cutting out fatty foods, If i want chocolate ill eat it or a mcdinalds or anything, nothing is restricted just not everyday and not in huge portions where ya can't move after, I never eat till I feel full up, I eat when I am hungry and when I am not hungry I dont, sometimes thirst is mistaken for hunger, have a glass of water or juice or a cup of tea, I have gone from 17st eating nothing for breakfast sometimes nothing for lunch, to a man sized dinner in the evening with lots of alcohol on the weekends, to 12 stone since sep last year eating breakfast lunch dinner and snacks in between, plenty of fluids and keep busy, not just exercise but housework really does clear the mind and once you stop thinking of food as the enemy or the main cause of the weight gain, i really believe the mind controls the way our body behaves, so if we believe chips make us fat then they will, hope I have helped in some way xx

The Bible says, “don’t eat to the full.” It is an eating disorder and it the kind that requires discipline with the Holy Spirit guiding you to stop eating to the full and when not hungry. It is gluttony that causes these kinds of problems. This kind comes out with prayer and fasting. To fast until wisdom puts you back at your proper times to eat. the problem is the devil tries to encourage or enable you to eat with urges, sensual feelings and other words to have you consume when you really shouldn’t.
